A dear friend sent me this video with the lovely compliment, “This performance art reminded me of you”. I took it as a compliment because I thought it was just beautiful.
Japanese-American artist Shoji Yamasaki’s performance piece shows what happens when bits and pieces of litter choreograph human movements.
I hope you enjoy it.
Check out these earlier blog posts featuring litter in my neighborhood. 🙂

Love it!!
Art is everywhere, if only people could take their eyes off their phones and look around them.
Agreed! 100%. If only….
Art is perception. Looking at a piece of art is a personal experience. Perception and experience are the guides.
This ability to look deeper at things gives us the opportunity to delve deeper into our imaginations allowing us to see how simple objects can change color, shape, form and function – one lesson that has stayed in my memory from an undergraduate class on “Art and Society”.
I like the way these objects seem to open up our imaginations – the third eye – so that a feather becomes a pencil for example. You didn’t see it at first glance not until your mind’s eye focused its gaze and you see a leaf morph into a butterfly right before your eyes.
I think this is the primary purpose of each video.
It’s BRILL. (Short for brilliant)

Thank you 🙂
