my ten favourite things of 2023
I’ve been thinking that this year I should do a list. Not just because I love lists but it’s always hard to think of Christmas gift ideas. Maybe this could inspire you this holiday season.
Vote for the ones you think would make great gift for someone you know – or a gift you might buy for yourself.
(Note: I purchased every item mentioned below. None of the products was given as an incentive or gift, nor was I paid by any company to mention the following items in this post.)
Away Packing Cubes – keeps clothes neat and organized especially when on a long(er) trip. These come in a variety of colours and are clean looking without extraneous tabs or tags, modular shapes for suitcase/carry-on case. Recommended to me by my sister. No regrets.
Excellent gift for travellers.

Astropad’s Rock Paper Pencil – this screen protector and Apple Pencil tip provides a great textured surface improving the feel of drawing on the iPad. It’s reasonably priced and best of all, the screen protector is magnetic so it goes on and comes off quite easily.
Good gift for digital artists.

Manduka Pro Yoga Mat – once this mat is broken in (with salt treatment) it’s study, grippy and provides very good cushioning for longer practice sessions. On the downside – it’s a bit heavy – but it is a “pro” mat that says it will last a lifetime.
Excellent gift for the seasoned yogi.

Hydro Flask – super sturdy, double-walled flask with a straw that can fold down or be pulled up. Drinking two of these each day is enough for your kidneys to say, ‘Why…thank you!”

Great gift for that family member / friend who struggles to (remember to) stay hydrated.
Athleta Salutation Stash Leggings – Lordy lordy – these leggings are so supremely comfy; perfect for a long flight, morning yoga then transitioning into the rest of the day
Nice gift for a yoga practitioner, walkers, or those who work from home.
Origins – Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega Mushroom Skin Relief Micellar Water – an oldie but a goody. I’ve used this for several years now and it’s gentle on sensitive skin, does an excellent job of getting everything off.
Great stocking stuffer.
Summer Fridays Rich Cushion Cream Ultra Plumping Moisturizer – when used before bed, it sinks into the skin, next morning, skin is still hydrated
Nice gift for anyone who wants a clean and gentle face cream or someone who struggles with winter / dry skin
Fior di Salina Shower Gel – from L’Erbolario (The Herbarium) – This is an Italian skincare line. Fior di Salina is my 2023 favourite. (My all time favourite is Frescaessenza – a very different scent from this.) Black Juniper is another great gift idea, a clean, robust (more masculine) scent.
Any of these would be excellent stocking stuffers!

Roman Stories by Jhumpa Lahiri – one of the best books I’ve read this year.
Great gift for those who love beautiful, thoughtful writing.

Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami – this novel flows, takes sharp left and right turns, then goes straight again. Then repeats. Takes you on a fantastical journey.
