I wanted to write you this letter to let you know what’s been on my mind. 

I don’t know if blogs are on their way out or making a comeback. Word on the street is that it’s the latter. Perhaps like young Nao in Ruth Ozeki’s A Tale for the Time Being, blogs are a means for the blogger to scream their hearts and minds out in cyberspace without knowing if they’re actually being heard. Regardless, maintaining a blog – having a place to share my art, and writing, photos, and stories – is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.

Here’s where I am.  

I’m trying to grow an audience – but without the social media heavy-hitters.  Most everyone says that’s an impossibility though.

You need social media to get heard, they say.  
Social media will establish your blog, increase your audience, and really bring awareness to what you’re creating. 

I can’t tell you how many times my finger has hovered over the ‘install’ icon for Instagram before I pull it back and swipe away the App Store from my screen. There are so many reasons why I don’t ever install it.

I enjoy creating posts for my blog. When people ask me what my blog is about, I have a hard time answering because it’s not a niche or esoteric blog, not about any one thing .  What I do say is the posts won’t take more than five minutes of their time, and more often than not, they’re about art, photography, and stories. When I’m lucky enough to travel somewhere cool, I blog about that place. 

My point is – whether one person reads it or ten people do, I love creating and putting my creations on my site.

Anyway – I digress. Here’s where I am. 

From now, my blog will be on a subscription basis.  Of course, there will still be some free blog posts; however, because the posts featuring my artwork and short stories take a long time to create these will be for paying subscribers.

If you think my blog brings you even a little pleasure, then please consider becoming a monthly subscriber. If you prefer to subscribe to a single post, that’s also an option. And if you choose not to subscribe, I hope you still pop by for a visit from time to time.
